Tiny Workouts: Early Morning Workout Tricks

It’s early morning and your alarm goes off.  Immediately, you spring out of bed like a bushy tailed bunny and drop to the floor and crank out 25 diamond pushups.

Ok, so maybe it didn’t happen that way at all.

As tough as it is, morning workouts are highly effective for both your physical and mental well-being. As we’ve mentioned before, any movement you do will deliver value to your body and getting a mini workout under your belt before you even leave the house will also give you a huge psychological boost. Think of it as one more accomplishment for the day. It’s win-win! Now let’s look at some areas where we can squeeze in some movement.

1. While brushing your teeth – Why just brush your teeth? If the general consensus is that you should brush your teeth for 2 minutes and we also know that those 2 minutes can be pretty boring anyway, why not mix it up with these simple exercises:

Toe lifts
Calve raises
Squats

2. While making coffee – Do you have a slow brewing machine or do you have an espresso machine? Either way, this is plenty of time to either do 30 -45 seconds or even a few sets of the following go-to exercises:

Pushups
Plank
Squats

3. While making toast – Yes, while many of you are off the carbs, some of us still dig a slice or two of unbuttered toast in the am. If you do use a toaster in the morning, this is THE greatest opportunity to do a few sets of any of these exercises. Don’t be a slave to your toaster oven! Instead, be the master of these exercises:

Pushups
Plank
Squats
